Season 9
Bigg Boss Tamil Season 9 premiered on October 5, 2025, with Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi returning as host, continuing his role from Season 8. The season launched under the tagline "Onnume Puriyala" (Nothing is understandable), emphasizing a theme of gradual revelation and strategic gameplay.
Season Overview
The ninth season features a revamped house design inspired by an Egyptian Palace theme, marking a new aesthetic direction for the show. For the first time, a Jacuzzi has been installed inside the house, elevating its grandeur. The house includes modern amenities such as a gym, garden, pool, smoking zone, jail, and a dedicated captain's room, continuing the tradition of strategic gameplay elements.
Contestants and Format
A total of 20 contestants entered the house, including a mix of celebrities, social media influencers, and emerging talents. The first contestant to enter was Dr. Diwakar, popularly known as "Watermelon" fame. Other confirmed participants include Kani Thiru, Ramya Joo, Malini Jeevarathinam, Roshan, Sabarinadhan, Kemy, Vinoth Babu, Mr World Manikandan, Pravinkanth, Janani Ashok Kumar, Viyana, Ashwini Aanandita, Praveen Devasagayam, Subiksha Krishnan, Aurora Sinclair, Karthikeyan, Kamurudin, VJ Parvathi, Apsara CJ, FJ (Adisayam), and Irfan Zaini.
The format follows the Big Brother concept developed by Endemol, where housemates live in isolation at EVP Film City, Chennai, under constant surveillance. Contestants must speak Tamil, avoid rule-breaking such as physical violence or discussing nominations, and participate in weekly tasks and nominations. Evictions are determined by audience voting, with the contestant receiving the fewest votes being eliminated each week.
Broadcast and Streaming
The season airs on Star Vijay and is available for streaming on Disney+ Hotstar (referred to as Jio Hotstar in some sources). Daily episodes cover the previous day's events, while Sunday episodes focus on interviews with evicted contestants and weekly highlights. A 24/7 live channel is available for subscribers, allowing real-time engagement with the house dynamics.
